This website is a joke. I ordered a report on my own name. The report had some correct information about me. However most of the information was wrong. I have lived in the Jacksonville Florida area since July of 1973 at numerous addresses. It showed that I lived in 2 other cities in Florida and in another state. I don't know where this information came from. I would advise anyone to avoid this website..

I signed up for Spokeo to do some research on family strictly for family history information. What I did NOT like: * You can sign up for 3 months, but they advertise that as $9.95/mo; which means you pay $29.85 for 3 months. I canceled after using the site for LESS than 4 hours, and they agreed to refund part of the subscription. What they decided to refund was $5.95. So, they make basically $24 for my 4 hours of searching. $8 an hour. WAY too expensive for what I got. I do not consider that fair play; the refund should be relevant to the time used at least within the first maybe 12 or 24 hours. * The information I got on the searches I performed was all old information; nothing new or updated on any of the 4 searches and reports I got. A lot of "useless" information if you are looking for current info. * A lot of the information was incorrect. I was getting results on people whose names were the same, but locations were in different States -- States my relatives had never lived. Basically, you probably already know most of what you will get from Spokeo. No sense in paying to get already known information unless you just like the idea that the info is in immediately printable/downloadable form. Be prepared to get a lot of info not relevant to the person you are searching for IF they have a somewhat common name.

Only 1 of 4 disputed charges refunded – issue still unresolved
I originally made a purchase for $0.95, but I was subsequently charged $29.95 four times for a recurring subscription. I disputed all four $29.95 charges through PayPal. So far, only one of the four charges has been refunded. The other three have not been refunded. At the moment, one PayPal case has already been decided in favor of Spokeo, while two other cases are still under review. I have until September 24, 2026 to appeal the case that was decided in Spokeo's favor. Spokeo's response to my previous complaint explained that subscriptions automatically renew, but that does not resolve my concern. My issue is that I did not knowingly intend to purchase an ongoing $29.95 monthly subscription when making the original $0.95 purchase. The total of the four disputed charges was $119.80, but so far only one $29.95 payment has been refunded. I am therefore still seeking a refund of the remaining $89.85. I hope Spokeo will review the situation again and resolve the remaining charges fairly.

The service provider I typed the number into the google search bar and it told me sprint was the service provider and. Spokeo couldn’t figure that out that’s insane.

I tried to obtain info on someone's socials and was told it would be $0.95 but was charged $19.95 and received a "report" with useless information (which I already have) and NO info on the socials!! They refuse to refund the $19.95 and insist that they provided a full report (I ONLY requested socials and did not receive it) I don't need the person's address, phone, email and relatives - I have all of that information. I purchased a one time inquiry for 96 cents. Much to my annoyance within two weeks Spokeo charged my MC a monthly charge of over $32 that I had never signed onto. When I called to get this reversed I was told they could cancel but only refund a little over $13. When I objected and described this as theft, and report it as such and that I would challenge the charge with my credit card company and take it further if need be, only then did Bianca take my objections to management and represent me in the dispute. I appreciate her help but continue to believe this was intentional and a device by your company to steal.

I took advantage of a free 7 day trial 3 years ago amwhich I thought I cancelled right away. But not only was I charged for that account since at 22.95 but another account was added which I did not authorize at 29.95 a month. I only used the service during the free trial. When I cancelled earlier this week the second account was never mentioned which I discovered when I was charged after canceling. I just requested a full refund and cancellation of the second account. We will see what happens. My recommendation to this service is to show some integrity in your account and billings. The two accounts were collected under the same PayPal account. I feel ripped off and cheated.

Non-compliant data broker that lies about where you live to evade legal erasure requests or ignores
"Our people search services are intended to provide contact information only for people living in the United States. Our name, phone number, and address search will only yield results for individuals in the United States." I am writing a new review so everyone who sees their previous reply knows that this claim is false. Apparently, it doesn't occur to Spokeo that Americans sometimes move and take their US number with them to stay in touch with friends and family (and also to not get locked out of important accounts by MFA). Spokeo does not get to decide that I live in the United States just because they found it in a public record there somewhere. YOU chose to not fact check because it was convenient for YOU - that does NOT make it TRUE. I live in Europe. I plan to continue living in Europe for a very long time. Citizenship =/= residency and a phone number does not indicate RESIDENCY. It only shows where the number was bought. My US number is being used in Europe. It is EU data and telephone numbers are covered under GDPR. They also do not honor US data privacy laws either, as they ignored my right to delete data obtained about me from someone other than myself under NDPA via Nebraska. I will not debate Spokeo on TrustPilot. They are displaying inaccurate location information about my number and refusing multiple privacy laws. I have reported them to the Nebraska AG, the California AG, and CNPD in Portugal for continued displaying and processing of my number, which I use in Europe every day. Any replies from Spokeo will be ignored and screenshot for legal reference, UNLESS it is a written confirmation that the page displaying my number against my GDPR and NDPA rights will be DELETED. Any other humming and hawwing about why they "can't" will be ignored, so everyone who visits this page can see how they handle being CORRECTED when their data is WRONG and requests for deletion are made. I personally do not believe they reply to requests like mine for the deletion of phone numbers in good faith. They can cry until the cows come home that the number belongs to a US resident, but they make these claims without proof. If they want my European residency card and pictures of the phone in question, I will gladly provide it - but just because you found it in US record doesn't mean it is being used by someone that lives there. MOBILE numbers can be moved elsewhere. That is the entire point. And they are not honoring Nebraska data privacy law, either. Their refusal of both NDPA and GDPR, in my humble opinion, suggest highly questionable data practices. So they simply choose to be non-compliant. I will not negotiate with Spokeo about where this number is being used, they are not the final authority on my data and I will not change or retract my comments about them on any site. I will continue submitting and escalating complaints as long as they keep disseminating my number without my consent. SPOKEO does not decide where the owner of a number lives and by the way, under Nebraska data privacy law *and* GDPR, INACCURATE DATA is also covered. I will complain as long as my number remains on their website in defiance of NDPA and GDPR. Considering a lawsuit. "Just change your number!" when I am living outside of the US and that is very hard to do is not a reasonable request under the GDPR balancing requirements, when Spokeo could take this page offline. And FYI Spokeo, I have already spoken with a GDPR specialist lawyer that AGREES with me, especially as I just received THREE unwanted calls from the US at unreasonable hours of the night here in Europe just last night. This would stop if you deleted my number and stopped sharing inaccurate location information about it. I am not joking about taking legal action and informing any authority I can of your patterns in regards to how you handle erasure requests. I have filed a sworn complaint against your company with CCPA. Don't come at me with how you're sorry about any hardships caused, either. You're sorry I said something publicly, but if you were truly sorry and saw the people behind the numbers and the data you would comply with privacy laws in FULL and DELETE my number from your site. Since you continue to choose NOT to do so, I will keep escalating to whatever entities needed. "Public data" is not an indefinite RIGHT for companies to ignore deletion requests - Nebraska law even specifically covers this for non-compliant cases like YOURS. PS: Buyers beware, as you are also being fooled if you are area targeting numbers. :) I am not a US consumer and I am not your target, but Spokeo is ADVERTISING my number like it could be RE: Does everyone see their continued claims below that I live in the US after my SECOND correction here or that I consented? I requested and paid for the advance search for the marriage date between my mother and father who were divorced and each had remarried. My mother and stepfather had past away years ago and my father past away just a few months ago. My stepmother needed this information for the Veteran’s administration. I paid for the advance search. No information was provided, (this was not the fault of Spokeo) I tried to ask the person contacted through spokeo chat for the information or a refund. He stated there was no information. He did forward my request to Spokeo customer serve supervisor. I was denied a refund stating they provided the information. They refused to provide a refund nor actually show the information. Which I found out could only be attained by a phone call into the records department of OK. So Spokeo refused to follow their own company stated policy and guarantee. No information is supposed to trigger a refund. I had to go through PayPal to get my refund. Horrible customer service and a horrible company! Added after Spokeo posted. Their response is a complete joke. There was absolutely no information provided, no intention of refund and no actual response with actual facts to backup their claims that they provided other information. They’ve been fraudulently charging my credit card $29.95 per month for the past 7 months! I authorized payment of $5.95 for a ONE time charge in order to receive a single report back in December 2025. Without my knowledge and without my authorization, they enrolled me in a recurring monthly plan! They’ve never sent me any messages stating that they’re going to charge my card. When I finally noticed how they were stealing my money, I downloaded copies of the monthly charges as they reported them to my bank. The detail for each payment says '12 day trial membership $29.95'! A 12 day trial membership that costs $29.95/month and goes on forever??? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS! If you unfortunately do like I did be sure to dispute the charges with your bank! You may want to cancel or lock your credit card ASAP before they drain your bank account!

Useful information, but poor customer service and very little consideration for customers. The trial subscription is misleading: cancelling early to prevent renewal immediately cuts off access, instead of letting you use the trial period you already paid for. This feels deliberately designed to catch customers out.

After contacting customer service, the very next day was charged two extra amounts. Again, I only did one search, requested refund, they charge my card the very next day, TWICE. Misleading information telling you that you can obtain police background reports but when you pay you get no background report. One week later they charged me 29.95 for nothing at all and when i called them about it offered to give me an 11.95 refund. When i demanded to talk to their management they gave me the full 29.95 which they had stolen from me back. Not recommended and a waste of time and money.
