Very helpful expert and explained well. The problem was a bad phone connection so I I couldn't understand everything that was said.
Efficient, knowledgeable and polite. Very helpful onboarding and covered all my questions.
Been using for a while, and the number of obvious features that this software lacks (many of which users have been asking for for years) is ridiculous. For example, it is not possible to filter expense transactions according to whether they have been matched (so deleting a duplicate becomes a problem, rather than a two second job). Also, it is not possible to combine bank transactions to match, meaning I physically had to move money to and fro for expenses to avoid them double-counting in the accounts. While looking for help, I see that both these features have been requested by numerous users for years but have not been acted on. I guess now QB has the market sown up thanks to MTD it doesn't actually care about serving it's users.
Make sure you definitely want to use them because as soon as you pay that’s it. No refund even if you change your mind within the hour. Thankfully I managed to get a good deal for a year but I won’t be using it. Tried to get a refund but spoke to someone in retentions who wouldn’t let me get a word in edge ways the. Just before I’d made my mind up told me I can cancel if I want but I still wouldn’t be my money back even though I’d changed my mind within a few days.
Quickbooks Online does the basics well enough but is incredibly poor at fixing issues that have been reported by users years ago. My particular complaint: Customer Statement layout can not be edited separately, it is linked to a default invoice layout, why?! Just lazy. End up with balance numbers on the pdf statement which are left-justified and the look is unprofessional. Why they are even formatted like this?! There is no way to edit because of the way QB has set this up. Users have reported this since 2018 and Intuit can't be bothered to build a solution. If the look of customer statements is important to you DO NOT BUY QUICKBOOKS ONLINE!!!! you have been warned :))
Shopify connector has not working since 13th August.
Very disappointing experience. The invoice template itself is good, but I experienced serious problems with the core functionality of the service. Several invoices sent through the system were apparently never received by clients, which is a significant issue for any invoicing platform. In addition, the tracking of account values has been consistently inaccurate, making it difficult to rely on the system for accurate financial information. What has been most frustrating, however, is trying to cancel my subscription. Rather than allowing customers to cancel their service directly, the website makes the process unnecessarily difficult and requires me to wait until Monday to call and discuss the next steps. If I have decided to cancel a subscription, I should be able to do so without being forced into a phone call. This is my money and my subscription, and I should be able to make that decision without the company withholding the ability to cancel until I speak to someone. If I wanted to continue using the service, I would have contacted them to discuss my concerns before making the decision to cancel. Overall, while the invoice template is useful, the reliability issues and especially the unnecessarily difficult cancellation process have left me very dissatisfied with the service.
solution want to change ways
I could give a very low score to Quickbooks after my initial dealing with them, but they have since redeemed themselves and mostly through the customer support of John Michael based in the Philippines call centre. I got set up with Quickbooks and was just getting used to the software and then the rug was pulled out from under me when they offered me a free package upgrade. The new software version turned out to be nothing like the first and required me to re-learn everything all over again. The new version is far more complex and added to that a lot of data was temporarily lost. I was then invited to a learning session with a customer support representative and 'John' massively helped me understand the software better and he was absolute gold standard of customer service. I can now see how much more can be done with the software. It will save me money in the long term and also help lessen data errors through its tools. I had a rocky start, but now I think the software has a lot of potential and I can hopefully enjoy using it once I have become more familiar with it.
As a pro-advisor I am supposed to have experienced, priority support but after numerous questions to clear security (!), they cannot assist and say someone will call back! They never do. Yet again I dont have an account manager! Whats going on?!
I am totally new to Self-Employment and whilst potentially overwhelming, the onboarding process was brilliant at showing me basic features to get me started. I am now feeling very confident about running the financial side of my new business. S/o to Travis, they were a great help.
The QuickBooks system (and therefore HMRC) doesn’t recognise that an employee has left and continues to chase for EPS filing for this employee, despite following Customer Service instructions in filing and submitting the FPS for a leaver. Their Customer Complaint team states that a “final EPS” had to be filed but the system never gave this option to do so. As the company is ceasing and the QuickBooks subscription is already cancelled, Customer Service doesn’t care to fix anything here.
My experience as a novice computer user was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. All of my questions were answered in a professional way, nothing was too much trouble. I feel I can use the service with confidence now.I was terrified of using Quickbooks in the first place!! Thank you for your help
I am giving 5 stars for the help that Josh gave me as I was very confused about the interface and how to navigate it. I am still not familiar with it all but hope in time I will be, it is much more confusing than it used to be!
Valery was very patient, listened to my questions and answered everything clearly.
Warlyn was incredible with her support. I am not very technical so it was amazing to have her guide me through it. Made everything very simplistic. Was polite, engaging and helpful. You are very lucky to have her as a member of your team and I wish her lots of luck in her future.
I’m fairly new to QB, so far so good. Onboarding session very helpful today.
Initially told one licence can be used to report returns for both self-employment and landord in one licence but after signing up client then advised client needs a second licence. DOUBLE THE COST FOR CLIENT. ANDICA AND XERO do offer this facility on one licence. QUICK BOOKS NOT TOTALLY PREPARED FOR MAKING TAX DIGITAL
As a UK Platinum ProAdvisor, I expect priority support — that is what the tier is supposed to deliver. Instead, I am routinely spending over 4 hours a day on the phone just trying to reach someone who can actually resolve payroll issues. The call pictured here has now been running for over 2 hours (02:00:11 and counting) on the so-called "priority expert team" line, and I still have not been transferred to anyone able to deal with the problem. This isn't a one-off, it's become a pattern. For a paid, top-tier partner support channel, this level of service is simply not good enough. Being a Platinum ProAdvisor should mean faster, more direct access to competent support, not longer hold times than a standard customer might face elsewhere. Intuit needs to urgently review how the "priority" line is staffed and routed, because right now the label doesn't match the reality. If you're a fellow ProAdvisor considering whether the Platinum tier's support promises hold up in practice — based on my repeated experience, they don't.
Full of glitches, so frustrating to use. Has so many unnecessary features. All I wanted to do was submit my MTD. I spoke to an advisor for an hour and was told that I had the wrong package and I needed to start all over again. Did that and the bank accounts kept disconnecting. I used another software and submitted my accounts within 10 minutes! I used quickbooks because I thought it was a well known company. It’s just too confusing and too many reports that makes it overwhelming. I used another company to submit my 3 line accounting and it didn’t cost me anything! Avoid quickbooks.
Warlingham was very helpful during my o boarding call. Helping me to navigate upgrade, which h has alot of new features. Warlingham also provided a follow-up email
I was with Quickbooks for five years before being moved over to their new 'updated' interface this month. The previous one was user friendly, simple, intuitive and practical. The new one is beyond awful. Things that used to take one step now take five. Useful shortcuts have been removed. Nothing is clear, processes are opaque and buried behind different menus, there are far too many options to choose from, basically everything that made the old model useful and usable has now been removed or changed beyond recognition. Oh and AI is a forced integral part of everything. I usually spend 15min or so doing my monthly accounting- today on this new interface it's been FIVE HOURS to try and get the numbers right. I am looking for a new online accounting service asap as I no longer trust them with my MTD.
My payment card expired as I changed banks, leading to a payment failure. However, trying to add a new card resulted in an error. The case was escalated 3 different times to software developers who all told me that the bank was declining the charge and to try a new card. However, 6 different cards were declined, and the banks told me that the issue was due to Quickbooks pre-authorising a £1 payment and then actually trying to charge £2.40, so it's correct to decline the transaction. Despite relaying this information, the engineers kept replying with the same stock information, completely ignoring the content of my replies. Moving to Xero.
QuickBooks used to stand out because it was simple, logical and efficient for everyday bookkeeping. Over the years, more and more functionality has been added. While new features are welcome, the core bookkeeping experience has become more complicated. As a professional bookkeeper, I don't need more menus or more modules. I need the most common accounting tasks to be faster, easier to find and more intuitive. Please don't sacrifice usability in pursuit of more features. Simplicity was one of QuickBooks' greatest strengths.
Despite hours on the phone QuickBooks is still adding up invoices incorrectly !! Staff unable to help They wanted be to agree to a zoom call to investigate further I was on holiday for two weeks and advised them it would have to wait until I returned They cancelled the investigation ! Back to square 1 DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SOFTWARE IT IS A RIP OFF
Where do I start. I have used QB for years as a sole trader and very happy. Transferred to the new MTD version and what a mistake. Data lost, too many categories, they made up the migration data. And lost transactions. And whilst in contact with them to resolve the issues, it is clear, the advisors don’t fully understand the new complicated systems. They tell me all data is transferred but my business banking shows this is untrue, Do not go with them. The package is poor, the customer service worse!
I have been moved over to Sole Trader Plus as Self employed will no longer be available. The migration has been awful, I have had 2 very long phone calls with the onboarding team who couldn't solve the issues. Both times I was transferred to technical services and the last call was dissconnected. The "direct number" I was given took me through to an AI bot who transferred me through to the accountant support team and they obviously couldn't assist me. I have found more issues where the agent supposedly fixed things for me but actually theyve ended up duplicating transactions and overinflating my income which will obviously have cost me more in tax had I have not noticed. I will give them a 3rd attempt to get everything working correctly on the next call before jumping ship to an alternative provider who can actually deliver a product that actually works.
of course they will bend over backward to help you to get you to sign up but then absolutely useless when you need a simple question answered. Time wasting on the phone, not speaking to make money off your call. DO NOT USE THIS SUPPLIER.
Genuinely some of the worst people I have dealt with in my life
Awful company with almost zero customer service or technical support unless you are willing to pay even more than their already ridiculous fees. I was notified by email that my account was locked due to “suspicious activity”, which they would not elaborate on. Then I had to prove my identity above and beyond the usual security questions and multi factor authentication AND then they said it would take at least 48 hours to unlock my account (which probably requires the horrific effort of clicking a button for them).
I am using report scheduling, an obvious need for any accounting software, which enables one to automatically distribute reports on a set day. Problems so far, all of which apply to sending a Group of two reports : - there is a limit to how many email addresses one can put in the "to", "cc" or "bcc" boxes for the accompanying email; seems to be 4 per box - having set up a schedule or workflow, access to the schedule to edit it is intermittent; just now it came on screen at the first attempt but 4 further tries all failed - the scheduled email and attached reports did arrive but the reports in the PDF had been printed twice instead of once To the QBO development team - this will be really useful functionality - when its working properly. Please fix it.
Impossible to navigate - yes no one likes change, but honestly it is so hard to even find simple things. I just want to find invoices sent for example. It should be one click. Also my business name has been changed and now my invoices look a four year old made them. Awful.
Terrible app. After 3 months of using it to keep my books together. Ive been told its now not compatible for Hmrc and will need to change to a more expensive version and account would be cancelled on the 1st of August. This info came from my bookkeeper and not Quickbooks them selves. Also data breach another company's details were linked to my account and all they said was there's nothing they can do about it. Ive now cancelled and changed to Xero.
App doent work when you need it. Had bugs in the system before writing invoices and then it froze lost a big invoice. Today I get this plan doest support this app. I’m moving
Michael made tax digital a lot more simpler than I expected. Knowledgable and very patient. Excellent tuition.
Jeah was very knowledgeable and patient.
Having just moved over to QuickBooks plus, help was needed. I received a call from Val who talked me thru. She was great, very good at what she does, kind and patient with a lovely approach. Please give her my big thanks.
I would like to give a very glowing review to John R. I was dealing with a very tircky issue with inputting credit card information and had previously been given conflicting advice. John R spent nearly two hours on the phone with me to fix the issue. He was extremely helpful and patient and spent a lot of time working out the various issues. I wish I could have John R on the end of the advice line every time I call.
Experienced support to help resolve problems, I am new to quick books and new to running my own company, the support has been invaluable.
Worst customer service. Impossible to get hold of account manager despite sending multiple emails and calls.
Angel was extremely helpful and answered all questions I had.
Just not updating. I'm now going to have to transfer to another provider as I am falling too far behind with my books.
I had an onboarding meeting with Marvilyn. Very useful and very helpful.
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE I used quickbooks for years. There's always been some tech issues and bugs but it's always been more hassle to change platform than to work around them. Since they made the terrible updates to the platform this year for MTD and adding in lots of AI assistance it's been a shambles. Firstly ongoing tech issues, LOTS of duplicate transactions, over complicated platform that doesn't make sense and even worse customer service. I've now switched providers and wish I had done years ago. I tried to cancel my QBs account online only to be blocked and told that I HAVE to call up to do so. I then contacted on Live Chat to be told the same. They are clearly trying to prevent customer's from leaving as they wish and putting barriers in place to try and stop you which is disgusting. AVOID THIS COMPANY
I wish they spend some of the advertising money on the actual fixed of the system. UNintuitive, and in some areas, rookie issues in the system, total incompatibility with the HMRC categories; 9 years of struggle. At least they answer the calls quickly, but one could expect a bit more work put into the system...
Very helpful and patient thanks
CJ was excellent. She helped to resolve a number of issues in a way which was easy to understand and taught me how to deal with the problem in the future
I almost never leave negative reviews, but this experience has been so poor that I felt compelled to write one. A migration carried out by QuickBooks left me with duplicated bank connections and duplicated transactions throughout my accounts, resulting in an incorrect Profit & Loss report. Instead of fixing the root cause, I spent months trying to explain the same issue over and over again to support. Each response seemed to ignore what I had already demonstrated. I was repeatedly given solutions that simply didn’t work. For example, I was instructed to disconnect one of the duplicate bank connections, but disconnecting one disconnected both. I explained this, yet the conversation continued as though the underlying issue hadn’t been understood. It almost feels as though there isn’t a human being reading or writing these emails. The replies often acknowledge what I’ve said, but then go on to suggest solutions that completely ignore the facts I’ve already provided, making it feel like I’m talking to a script rather than someone genuinely investigating the problem. The engineering team then claimed the duplicates had been fixed, but nothing had actually changed. The duplicate bank connections remained, and my Profit & Loss report was still incorrect. Rather than resolving the problem they created during the migration, I was eventually advised to manually exclude duplicate transactions—a workaround that leaves the underlying issue unresolved. The most frustrating part has been the amount of time wasted. I’ve already had to reclassify around a year’s worth of transactions once because of migration issues, and I have no confidence that I won’t be forced to do it again. When accounting software is responsible for your financial records, you expect accuracy and ownership when something goes wrong. Instead, I experienced weeks of contradictory advice, repeated explanations, and proposed fixes that failed to address the actual problem. This has been, without question, the worst customer support experience I’ve had with any software company.
