No I'm not giving you a picture of my face. Even my bank doesn't ask for that. The guy on the phone straight up told me my information is "probably secure" We need to stand up to these tech bastards
Really simple to use.
Guto is easy to use from an owner point of view and also from the employee standpoint. It's intuitive and there's plenty of support if needed.
I LOVE Gusto! Out of all the systems I have to run my business, this is the only one that doesn't cause a headache because it works like it is supposed to ALL the time. Thank you Gusto!
Great for our company payroll and easy to set up.
I use Gusto as an administrator to post payroll and as an employee to post my time. It works smoothly!
Easy to learn. Streamlined. Employees love the app.
It' easy to understand, works for me
Everything is pretty simple and timely. Communication is good.
NO complaints...love the platform and it's ease of use
Very user friendly. And affordable.
Payroll is made so easy, the website is terrific, and I can get reports in a snap
must have for business
As a small business Gusto provides a very Robust HRIS/Payroll System that allows us to streamline our HR and payroll processes.
Gusto makes payroll so easy! We love it!
Resolved my issue.
Gusto is compact and the price is well matched for a very small non-profit business. I find that performing specific actions often requires using an AI search engine to tell me where to find the appropriate location within Gusto. The lack of human contact for help is understandable given the apparent objective of being very affordable, but leads to frustration and longer than necessary execution times. The Autopilot function of managing repetitive payroll transactions is a key value of the tool.
Gusto does it all, i mean how can one not like that. Thats it no complaints from me.
Very user friendly, easy to use interface, and whenever I speak to customer service, I feel that they genuinely have the customer in mind.
I checked out a lot of different payroll apps before signing up, and based on my research, Gusto was the one that simplified the payroll as much as possible. I've significantly cut out a lot of the time doing admin work. While it's a little pricier than some of the other apps I checked out, the features it provides are well worth it.
Super easy to use. Takes me less than 5 minutes a week to run my payroll, and adding and removing employees is very intuitive.
Never let down by the product
Great, reliable company. They do all the tedious things.
Gusto is easy to use. I came from quickbooks, and Gusto is alot more forgiving, and easier to understand. I love it.
I have been working with our HR Manager to get feedback to Gusto. We have had multiple issues obviously with the system going down for moments and people not being able to clock and then also even more issues with the scheduling. There should be a template it's amazing that there is no template. I think there has to be a better way than to write motivational tidbits for people as they clock in. It feels condescending to say something like go get them tiger to an adult person. I would love to chat with an actual person about any of this. I managed two stores that uses your system.
Gusto if affordable and effective, the customer support consistently reached out to see how I was doing, and I really didn't need a lot of help anyway because the process was straightforward and easy to follow.
Gusto is an amazing payroll program. The reports are a little tricky to figure out but the service is amazing and the people are great to work with. They take care of everything and are very proactive in letting you know what you need to do.
Gusto is notorious for their extremely poor customer service and I experienced it first-hand myself. They will hangup on you with rude overseas call center operators as well. They do not take requests seriously. I have been calling about my insurance premiums for over a month and they have not been able to answer any questions or give meaningful answers. They also charge too high for each employee you have under them. Most companies charge $6 per employee they are charging more than double that. Stay away from this company
The interface is easy and intuitive. Authorizing payroll is painless (as the sole shareholder and employee of an S corporation). W-2s generated.
Love that the site is easy to navigate. It took me a little hunting to print out a check stub for an employee, only because it is not called a check stub, but other than that I am very happy with my experience.
Excellent for my real estate agents! They can keep up with their commissions through Gusto. A really nice bonus.
Not helpful when called. Phone reps are scripted recent hires with no real answers. No supervision apparently.
Such an easy program to use. Cut my payroll processing time in half.
Intuitive interface, lots of capabilities, helpful help desk when I get lost
Simple on a weekly basis. Would give it 5 stars, but the menu is confusing when trying to change an employee's pay rate: takes me time to figure it out with every raise.
I run payroll for my small marketing company through Gusto. Today I connected my AI assistant directly to Gusto using their official MCP server. It was a simple sign in and approve. No API keys to hunt down, no developer program to apply for. My assistant was reading my payroll data within minutes. Other software companies make you beg for API access. Gusto just built it. This is how it should work.
Once again, Gusto's customer support is an absolute joke. I chat with someone who speaks in circles, invents new terminology for a role, after I question this new role they admit that it's same as the old role. I request escalation, get a call from someone where there is so much back ground noise I can't hear what they are saying. What a joke of a company! Loosing my business as soon as I find a replacement.
Its a regular occurrence for payroll to not arrive on time. Yesterday was payday, we still have no direct deposits have been made. I submitted a request to be contacted yesterday and nobody called. I called in and spoke to a representative that was beyond clueless and sounded like he would be better suited to be a carnival ride operator. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there are no supervisors. I told the carnival ride operator that I will hold and he hung up on me. So they don't release pay on time, they hire anyone to answer phones, and they hang up on people if they want to speak to supervisors.
the onboarding experience, setup and employee setup was great. the follow up emails asking for drivers license and social security card was confusing. I am setting up payroll for my client. why do you need the accountants drivers license???
Todavía estaba evaluando proveedores; no había decidido contratar a Gusto.
Terrible. Think Twice Before Trusting Gusto With Your Payroll. We do not recommend using them. Our experience with Gusto has been completely unacceptable. When a serious payroll issue arose, their customer service provided incorrect guidance that made the situation worse. We then spent several days speaking with different representatives, repeatedly explaining the problem and being promised escalation and return calls that never came. Rather than promptly correcting the issue, Gusto restricted our ability to process payroll while continuing to offer apologies and vague assurances instead of a resolution. No knowledgeable person took ownership, and there was no sense of urgency despite the obvious risk to our employees and business. Payroll is too important for ineffective support, broken promises and a lack of accountability. We are now looking for a new payroll provider with competent, responsive customer service that understands the seriousness of preventing a business from paying its employees. Update: It only got worse: One payroll has disappeared from our account, employee funds were withdrawn following the customer-service-directed reversal, and we cannot access the tools or records needed to correct the situation. SECOND UPDATE — October 20, 2026: I cannot believe I need to add another update, but despite Gusto’s public response, this remains unresolved after approximately a week and a half and the situation continues to worsen. This disruption began after we contacted Gusto for help and followed the specific steps provided by a Gusto Customer Service representative. Those incorrect instructions caused the wrong payroll to be reversed. Gusto then withdrew wages from employee's own bank accounts and blocked our payroll access. We cannot correct the resulting problems because Gusto has also blocked our access to the payroll tools and records needed to do so. Last week, Gusto prevented us from processing payroll for the company’s CEO and president. Today, Gusto notified us that another employee’s payroll did not run and instructed us to process it manually by the end of the day so the employee could be paid on time. Yet Gusto’s own restriction makes it impossible to follow that instruction. Our hourly employees also cannot enter their time. Three different Gusto managers or senior representatives have contacted us. Each has apologized, repeated that the matter is being reviewed or escalated, and provided no actual resolution. We continue to explain the same facts while being passed between representatives and case numbers. They repeatedly apologize for the “inconvenience.” This is not an inconvenience, this is payroll. Ten business days later, Gusto still has not resolved the problem, restored our access, or enabled us to pay our employees. Every employee in our company is now affected. A public response saying that Gusto is working on the problem is not a resolution. We remain unable to perform the fundamental service for which we hired Gusto: paying our employees accurately and on time. This is a very serious issue on the part of Gusto and is inexcusable. We cannot and would not recommend Gusto to any business.
Absolutely the worst system and company to work for with payroll. Sales reps lied about easy setup, being able to transfer data, and providing a dedicated account rep. The tech support system is atrocious: they cannot look up your account without a special code, your phone number, your name, your email, your entity name, your entity d/b/a name, mailing address, EIN, last 4 of bank number, and what type of entity you are (no joke, you need ALL OF IT just so they can look you up). You need to verify every time you call in even if they hang up or accidentally disconnect. Have spent over half a day trying to get ahold of someone that is not a base rep and they still have not been able to do so. Have multiple support tickets open that are unresolved with zero follow up. They have representatives assigned to US accounts and payroll taxes but the reps 1) don't live in the US and 2) are not even trained on US tax identities and basic information. If you don't want your payroll run and want to be ignored forever, Gusto is the system for you. If you are a sane person that wants to process payroll, have an actual tech support team with who you hire on, have a customer support team for who you hire on, and not die of old age waiting for someone to fix issues, literally go with any other system out there. In fact, payroll would be faster to process if you just used an abacus and both arms tied behind your back.
If I could give zero stars I would. I have had a horrible experience with Gusto. All I can say is stay far away and choose another payroll processor. They really messed up a payroll situation with me and I'm now having to spend a lot of money paying an accountant to fix the mess. Gusto supervisors were completely not helpful, and even more so, were the cause of the issue in the first place. They don't care about their customers and honestly, what they're doing should be criminal.
As a whole what you see is what you get with Gusto. However their heat and eat is another matter, they charge extra on top of the already inflated meal prices for these ping meals and then send out substandard overcooked food that I personally wouldn't choose in a supermarket. As usual their customer service is beyond poor and when they should be offering compensation they instead offer partial refund for something inedible.
Gusto has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their system prevents you from correcting your own payroll, forcing you to contact customer support. Then, when you finally reach someone, they are unable to help. Their customer support is entirely offshore in my experience, and the representatives seem to have no authority or ability to resolve even basic payroll issues. I was told I needed to upload a SELFIE just to get assistance correcting payroll! I spent over an HOUR trying to reach a supervisor. They delayed and transferred me until they could conveniently tell me their office was "closed." Representative repeatedly promise someone will get back to you "as soon as possible," and then NEVER follow through. So you're forced to start the entire ridiculous process all over again. The most frustrating part is that Gusto creates the problem in the first place. Their system restricts your ability to manage and correct your own payroll, yet they provide no effective customer support to resolve the issues their system creates. As a business owner, I need a payroll company that actually supports the businesses paying for its services. Instead, Gusto seems focused entirely on collecting fees while putting virtually no effort into customer support or accountability. Gusto is happy to take your money, but when you actually need help, you're on your own. Absolutely terrible service.
We have been very happy with the service and the platform. The only thing I would recommend is that clients have phone numbers that are direct numbers to their associates managing their accounts versus a global email that has to be sorted to get to somebody. There should be direct access with phone numbers
